Transformative Education Impact: Measurable Academic Outcomes Across Communities

BMEA's impact is fueled by delivering transformative education that ignites change in our broken education system and liberating schools for students, teachers, and school leaders through measurable academic outcomes.

The Impact of Our Work So Far

BMEA remains steadfast in our mission to create liberatory school spaces for marginalized communities across the country. Through our independently designed framework, educator fellowships, school partnerships where we facilitate whole school professional development and direct coaching to principals and teachers, youth leadership development, and our family engagement network, we’ve empowered educators, students, and families, fostering academic excellence and holistic growth.

We are proud of our track record of maintaining a 100% retention rate in our Teacher and Principal Fellowships, with educators from across the nation remaining steadfast in their commitment to transforming education.

We have expanded our Principal Fellowship to include a focus on education policy reform, ensuring that the voices of professionals working in schools and on the frontlines are heard at the decision-making table. This initiative empowers school leaders to not only drive change within their schools but also advocate for systemic reforms that address the broader challenges facing education. By equipping leaders with the tools and knowledge to engage in policy discussions, we are fostering a new generation of advocates who can bridge the gap between policy and practice, ultimately creating more equitable and effective education systems.

The BMEA Summer Program

Serving 150 Black males in grades 2-11 with documented academic gains, this program acts as a continuum of the year-round Youth Leadership Development Program, delivering consistent learning outcomes. It offers a comprehensive learning experience that includes mathematics intervention, social and emotional learning, and cultural and identity development.

The BMEA Summer Program employs an intergenerational model that fosters mentorship and leadership by connecting younger students with high school mentors all under the guidance of Black male educators. This approach not only reinforces academic skills and social-emotional learning but also empowers our high school students to take on leadership roles, creating a cycle of growth and development.
